Mozilla/FireFox, Win98/2000 and Windows Media Player 9 Issue

When using Mozilla or Firefox under Windows 98 or 2000, Windows Media Player 9 may play videos unreliably. This issue does not affect Windows XP or Windows Media Player 7 or 10.

This behavior is caused by Windows Media Player's plugin being incompatible with Mozilla/Firefox's plugin architecture in some instances.

Solutions:

  • RECOMMENDED: open the disc's "start.htm" file in another browser, preferably Internet Explorer.
  • If the video is not visible, but is playing, try one of the following... They will often cause the video to become visible.
    • If your browser is running full screen, click button to the left of the X "Close" to make the browser moveable.
    • Move the Browser Window by clicking and dragging its title bar.
    • Right Click on the Video Area or Window.
  • Follow the procedure for Installing ActiveX on Mozilla Browsers*
